Savannah Tournament
“Come on Blazers. We got to need focused. Our first game starts in about seven minutes. So let’s gear up, jog over there, and start stretching behind the field goal. No more screwing around!” said Coach Greg. We jogged down the hill and all twenty-one of us were focused. We came to win!

After stretching we marched over to the field. We came to Savannah, Missouri all the way from Gardner, Kansas and we came to win. Coach called the captains. They were Tanner, Brett, Andrew, and I. Our match was the Gardner Blazers vs. the Platte City Pirates. By half time we were winning twenty-zero. Coach Greg didn’t have much to say other than keep playing hard. The final score of the game was twenty-zero us. Go Blazers!
After the game we headed to our hotel. Most of the team stayed at the Holiday Inn but not everyone. It was lots of fun. We all watched the film of our game and Coach told us helpful things to do better next time. For example, he told the linemen to get out of the huddle faster so the defense doesn’t have time to adjust and he told the tailbacks to hit the hole harder. After that we all went to the pool.
Since we won our first game we would play two more the next day. Our second game was the Gardner Blazers vs. Marysville Eagles. They were not very good but they had one star player, Number 37. If he could get to the sidelines he was gone for a touchdown. Luckily he only got away once. He did scored Chooch and Ben scored more. I don’t remember the exact score but I do remember they only had eight and we won!
We won two games we are going the championship. The match up was the Gardner Blazers vs. Olathe South Falcons! They beat us two years in a row in league the championship. They had to go down! By halftime we were losing. Coach Greg had lots to say. When the game ended we had lost eighteen to zero. We headed over to the building behind the concession stand. We got our medals. Since we were runner up we got silver medals and the people on Olathe South recived gold medals. Their coach got a big trophy and our coach got nothing. We will get them next time.
On the ride home I thought about the trip and realized I learned a lot. I learned new plays, a better way to tackle, and much more. That trip really changed my life because I had a lot of fun and returned one medal richer. I am sad that I won’t get to do it again.
